Introduction to Qi Gong

Big Island Seal
Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 8AM Big Island Land Field (2006 Babe Ruth Drive, Alexandria, Louisiana) Free (Donations of Support Accepted)

Are you looking for a way of life that includes graceful movement, deep breathing, slowing down, and somatic healing? Join us for an introduction to Qi Gong practice and help grow a community of practitioners centered around Big Island.

Qigong (chee-gung) is a traditional Chinese mind-body practice that combines gentle, flowing movements with deep breathing and mental focus to reduce stress and improve health. We will practice the Eight Brocades of Silk form, and discuss the development of a practice that can be practiced at home or with a group.

The Eight Brocades of Silk (Ba Duan Jin) is an ancient 8-step routine combining gentle stretches, focused breathing, and mindful movement. It is a highly accessible practice designed to build core strength, reduce stress, and cultivate overall well-being.

What to Bring
  • Loose, comfortable clothing
  • An open mind
  • A yoga mat (optional, but recommended if you have one)

This is your invitation to practice and see where it takes us. Feel free to reach out with any questions via direct message. RSVP on Eventbrite

Metaphysical Assessment & Launch Structure

The 癸卯 (Guǐ Mǎo) Launch

Zuo-Xiang & Yun Temporal Grounding

Alignment: Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 8:00 AM, anchored in the Peak Harvest Moon (中秋节 Zhōngqiū Jié) cycle.
Operational Fact: Mid-Autumn Festival markers ground public practice in macro-cycles rather than arbitrary scheduling, ensuring seasonal alignment of breath.

The Almanac Officer: 破 (Pò)

Dismantling Institutional Stagnation

Day Officer: 破 (Pò / Destruction / Month Breaker).
Strategic Disruption: While conventionally avoided for passive commerce, a day acts as an energetic crowbar to snap static ground and dismantle land-locked institutionalized stagnation.

Four Pillars & Stems-Branches

Internal Crucibles and Elemental Severance

Year (丙午): Operating within the 本命年 (Běn Mìng Nián) / Year of the Horse crucible. Double Fire generates intensive internal heat (火气).
Month (丁酉): The Fire Rooster introduces a sharp, metallic edge—acting as an energetic scalpel to sever distraction and prior structural drift.

Day Pillar & Qi Mechanics

Harvesting Decades of Cultivation

Day Pillar (癸卯): Governed by the officer, functioning as a natural 收割 (Shōugē / Harvest) mechanism.
Anchoring: Peak lunar timing locks external pressures directly into the lower 丹田 (Xià Dántián), turning private preservation into kinetic power.

Yijing Resonance & Application

The Penetrating Wind & Clear Lake

☴☴
巽 (Xùn)
The Wind
☱☱
兑 (Duì)
The Lake
Resonance: Double 巽 (Xùn) provides a persistent, subtle wind capable of rooting out structural stagnation.
